Like December, the new single

Hey everyone! The year is almost over. I hope yours was just as special as mine. On a personal level, quite a bit changed. Becoming a dad and moving house in the same year, that’s not nothing ;). Speaking of the cold (what a terrible segue, I know): I’ve recorded and released a new single. It’s called Like December and it’s a winter/Christmas song!

Last summer I spent a week completely on my own in a log cabin in Finland to write new songs. It was a special week. Let me briefly tell you how it came about. I was approached by Henny from Bastö Hotel, who had heard me play on the Dutch radio show Evers Staat Op and wanted to invite me to come and perform at their hotel. That sounded great to me! It got even better when I was invited to stay for a whole week and use that time to write new songs in one of their beautiful log cabins. I’d been thinking for a while about writing a Christmas song, but I didn’t want to write a standard ‘ho ho the mistletoe’ kind of thing. Nothing wrong with those. I always play them at Christmas. But for myself I wanted to try something different. One morning while I was in the shower in that same log cabin, the idea for Like December suddenly came to me. Check the lyrics and draw your own Christmas interpretation from them ;).
