Ed Takes to the Theatres with a Tribute to Clapton's Unplugged

To mark the 30th anniversary of Eric Clapton’s Unplugged record, I’m taking my new show into the theatres this autumn: Gitaarmannen 2 (Guitar Heroes 2) - a tribute to Clapton’s legendary Unplugged album.

The first of 25 total performances is scheduled for Friday October 7th at Theater Cascade in Hendrik Ido Ambacht, ending on December 24th at Schouwburg Odeon in Zwolle. Clapton’s Unplugged is an iconic album and the best-selling live album of all time for good reason, with over 26 million copies sold. I’m really looking forward to bringing this with my band into the theatres.

As a teenager I lost interest in the guitar. I nearly gave up on this love entirely. Until a record came out that changed everything: ‘Eric Clapton - Unplugged’. It became the most legendary MTV Unplugged session ever! In 2022 it will be exactly 30 years since Clapton recorded this legendary session for an audience of 300 at Bray Studios, just outside London. It was the oxygen my guitar flame needed back then. After hearing the iconic intro of ‘Layla’ I knew for certain: “I am a guitar man.”

After a period when live music was nearly impossible, I’m going back to my source of inspiration. Will it give me new energy for the next 30 years?
