Ed Covers 'Iedereen Is Van De Wereld' at Ekdom in de Ochtend
This morning I was a guest with friend of the show Gerard Ekdom on his new radio programme on Radio 2 (NPO Radio 2). Ekdom in de Ochtend (Ekdom in the Morning) is his brand new morning show and a welcome addition to the current radio landscape. That was a proper sentence - now down to business: Radio 2 dedicated October 16th to ‘The Day of Dutch Pop Music’, and in that context Gerard asked what my favourite Dutch record was. Blimey, that’s quite a tough question… It felt a bit like opening Netflix because you want to watch something, but with all that choice you simply CANNOT make a decision. Now I knew I had to choose something, so I went for a song I genuinely think is fantastic and that also has a timely message: Iedereen Is Van De Wereld (Everyone Belongs to the World) by The Scene. I also thought it was fun to do something in Dutch for once - I don’t do that every day, and what I’ve done so far has been a bit half-hearted. So it was Iedereen Is Van De Wereld. I also brought my friend the Loopstation, so I could throw in a small solo halfway through and pull out my best George Benson impression. Hope you enjoy it. You can watch it back here:
Later in the day I was back on Radio 2, this time to accompany Chris Hordijk on his new single ‘We All Got Our Something’. Since we co-wrote that song and I think Chris is both a top vocalist and a genuinely great guy… I was happy to help him out by performing it together! Check it out here:
